The 27th ITI World Congress. ITI has got a new structure, which means that the former “executive committee” is reorganized as “executive council” with five leaders in the“executive board”. We are proud to tell you that Denmark has got a member in this board, actually our chairman Heino Byrgesen who was voted in with an overwhelming majority. We wish him good luck! Odsherred Theatre Centre. Leaders Forum. 11 - 13 Nov. Dramatists greenhouse 23- 26 Nov. The above mentioned is just a brief selection of meetings/courses that Odsherred theatre centre holds in the near future. New exciting course material is under elaboration for 1998 and it is expected to be ready in January. ITI can now reveal that this year´s success “Mike Leigh course method” will be on again with special emphasis on dramatists. Fund for Danish-Norwegian Co-operation. Child & Theatre 14 - 16 Nov.´97. A seminar for persons and organizations that work with theatre for children and youth out of anartistical, political, pedagogical and/or intermediary starting point. The purpose is to give information about children and youth theatre in order to improve that quality and quantity of the Norwegian children theatre with the topic: Children theatre - a genre of its own? Preconditions for the growth of the Danish children and youth theatre today. How are the Danish group theatres organized? How to choose who to support? The seminar will be held at Schæffergården. New Regional Cultural fund in Copenhagen. During the regional cultural fund test in Copenhagen it has been decided to appoint a committee that will take care of the distribution of the funds to the different cultural fields. The committee will consist of members of the cultural committee of Copenhagen Municipality. In order to help the committee it has been decided to appoint a number of special councils, with three members in every council. The municipality has asked a number of central organizations within the theatre/dance/ and performance field, as well as “small city theatres” in Copenhagen to recommend candidates to the commision for - theatre/dance/ performance and a special council for children/ethnic minorities. In addition to this a number of special councils will be appointed. The committee after following the recommendation of the special council will hand out DK 27 millions to cultural projects in Copenhagen during the next three years.

Danish Theatre Clubs. Theatre seminar ´97 in Kolding, 28 - 30 Nov. This year DT holds a theatre seminar at Hotel Scandic in Kolding. This year´s topic is “Regional politic of culture” where a number of theatre personalities will participate in the panel. Litten Hansen, Trevor Dav ies, Paul Bache, Göran löfdahl from Sweden etc. Ebbe Lundgaard the Minister of Culture will take part in the debate on the last day. Information: 33 15 4248 Anne Petersen.

The House of Theatre - Odense. On 4 Oct. starts the House of Theatre in Odense. The building will be the framework for the activities of three independant theatres - three theatres each with its own profile. These theatres are Skægspire, Vintapper Theatre and Gadesjakket. In connection with the opening these three theatres will hold a mini-festival with eight different performances from Saturday 4, Oct. at 3 p.m. In the future the House of Theatre will also be able to offer professional guest performance an “Opera Scene Performance” Information: 66 148844 - 66 113106 or 66 144021

Participation in a festival in Costa Rica. The festival will take place between the 14 -22 March 1998 in the capital San José. The tittle of the festival is “ San José por la paz” and it is the VI festival de las artes. The festival committee under the Ministry of Culture of Costa Rica invites the Danish theatres to participate too. According to what has been informed all the costs regarding the staying in Costa Rica will be covered, transport will be paid only on special occasions. E.C. support to culture - The Kaleidoskop Programme. Support to cultural arrangements/projects that are carried out in partnership (at least 3) across the borders. The programme Kaleidoskop gives the possibility to have partners from countries outside the E.C. too. Transit Women - Theatre Politics. Odin theatre - Nordic theatre lab. With the starting point in the Magdalena Project (Int. Network of Women in Contemporary Theatre) Odin theatre - Nordic theatre lab wishes to continue the debate concerning theatre/women politics with a festival/seminar 5- 9 Nov.´97. The purpose of the festival is to focus on the possibilities of the theatre as an active partner in the political life/society. “Salto” Dance Scene Greenhouse - dance festival for children and youth. Dance festival for 3rd consecutive year from 13 - 18 October at Dansescenen in Copenhagen and this year together with Dansstationen in Malmö. Theatre Festival for youngsters Gothenburg. For 3rd consecutive year Theatre Centrum in Gothenburg arranges a group festival during 15 -19 Oct. Ten theatres from Gothemburg and an Icelandic guest performance will participate this year. In addition to this there are 4 seminars. Unesco - Conference in Stockholm From 30, March to 2 April 1998 an International conference entitled “Policy of culture for the development”.There will be many participants from NGO organizations. River Art ´98 Festival Belgrade The festival is a big international cultural manifestation and will take place from June until the beginning of Sept.´98. Many events will take place during River Art ´98. Numerous video projections, individual performances, small theatres, avant garde groups. MA education in Community Dance Laban Centre for movements and dance in London offers now a MA dance course in Community Dance (the gathering of professional dancers/choreographers and the local society. For instance groups of students/parents staff, high school students, local projects etc.) the course is held in english and can be followed from Denmark (letter correspondance) but the participants have to attend an assembly in Laban Centre in London during 3-4 weeks after 2 years. The course starts in July ´98. The purpose of the course is to give a theoretical background (or practical introduction to Community Dance method). International workshop on Commedia dell´arte (Venice). The worshop is arranged by Teatro a l´Avogaria/Scuola Teatrale Giovanni Poli and it takes place in December . The workshop is composed of different specialities within Commedia dell´Arte with teachers from Lecoq in Paris and Theatre Mime in Barcelona among others. Academy of Experimental Dance - Theatre “Butoh” The academy is located in the countryside of Tenerife. The intention of the Academy is to give the dancer possibilities to develop a broad and efficient scenic expression to interpret and describe the body as unavoidable and persistent in all manifestations, even behind the most refined philosophy. The seminar includes physical training, different workshops that as well as the physical training originate from Japanese “butoh” dance. At the same time the participants will become acquainted with Qi Gong exercises. The seminar takes place from January to June ´97, and it is intended for dancers from the whole Europe.
